My first novel, Secrets of Hallstead House, is now available for free download on BookBub. Here’s the link: https://www.bookbub.com/books/secrets-of-hallstead-house-by-amy-m-reade?ebook_deal.
And here’s the tagline: After moving to a private island in upstate New York to provide nursing care for an elderly widow, Macy must uncover secrets from her past before they destroy her future.
I’m trying to spread the word far and wide. Would you consider reblogging and telling your friends? Every download counts!
Many thanks,
Amy
Will tweet your cover and link

I haven’t re-blogged it, because I have a few posts going on this weekend and I don’t want it to get lost. I have downloaded it though, and when I read it, I’ll leave a review. Also, I can do a feature on it at Writing Room 101 next week if you would like me to π

Hi. I’m getting an error message when trying to use the contact form ‘Author email address not set.’ My email is mbarkersimpson(at)gmail(dot)com. I am happy to do a spotlight post at WR101, as I said (http://www.writingroom101.wordpress.com). If you would like to send me author pic and bio, the cover and synopsis, and anything else you would like me to include I will get something scheduled in. Many thanks. Mel

Amy, I just downloaded your book – thanks.
BUT I noticed that everywhere – here, Amazon, BookBub, WordPress Reader – the cover is so dark as to be almost illegible, and the picture cannot be seen, nor the title (your name is nice and clear).
I don’t know why – but if it were me, I would want someone to tell me.
Compared to every other cover on my Kindle for Mac, and all the others on BookBub, it is practically dark gray.
Probably some small fixable problem.

Thanks for letting me know, Alicia. Is the book cover dark on your Kindle, on the computer, or both?

The little gray image on my Kindle (B&W) is so dark I can’t even see your name.
On my big monitor, everything except your name is quite dark.
On my laptop (MacBook Pro with Retina Display), the words ‘Secrets of’ are legible, but the red lettering of ‘Hallstead House’ is almost lost in the gray white background of sky and clouds. The most visible thing is an orange band of what appears to be vegetation across the lower half, with some waves under that. I can see there is a house there. Your name is clear and legible.
Don’t take my words as gospel, but I’m doing cover design right now, and I’m extra sensitive to things that are not clear, especially at thumbnail size.
I’m hoping it’s just my monitors, but thought you’d want to know.

Thanks. I am going to call my editor on Monday and try to get to the bottom of it. I appreciate you letting me know! Can you read the book even though the cover is messed up?

But only if you see what I mean.
And yes, I did get started reading just fine. It’s on my Mac and my Kindle.
I will have to go look up the book description, though. I missed that. Or maybe it is in the book? I wasn’t quite sure what genre you are aiming for.
Sorry I won’t be fast – I’m up to my ears in design right now.
Remember – don’t call anyone unless you also find it too dark – it might just be my monitors. Good luck!

I did ask a few other people if they were having trouble seeing it, and they didn’t have any problems. I’m glad you mentioned it, though, because I will keep my eyes and ears open. The book is women’s fiction with a gothic feel to it. My books have been compared to those of Phyllis Whitney, Victoria Holt, and Daphne DuMaurier, so it’s in a similar style. I do hope you enjoy it. Thanks so much for visiting me here and sharing your comments. Have a great weekend!
